An hourly invoice bills time: quantity is hours, rate is the hourly price, and InvoiceBizz multiplies them as you type. You do not need a special “timesheet invoice” product. This page opens a compact example with two time entries.
Who the hourly invoice template is for
Freelancers and contractors who track time: developers, support retainers billed by the hour, editors, and consultants who sell hours instead of phases. If you sell a fixed package, use the freelance or consulting examples instead.

In the generator, put hours in the quantity field and the hourly rate in the price field. The amount column is calculated. Do not type the line total by hand.
Necessary fields
- Your name, client name, unique invoice number, invoice date, due date
- Each time entry described well enough that the client can match it to the work
- Hours as quantity, hourly rate as price
- The period covered, in the description or the notes
Optional fields
- A purchase order, if the client issued one
- Tax as a label and percent when it applies to you — not legal advice
- A rounding note if you bill in 15-minute steps; InvoiceBizz does not round hours for you
How to use it
- Open the sample. Compact layout is already selected.
- Change the names, invoice number, and dates.
- Replace the two time lines with your real entries. Add more lines for more tasks.
- Keep quantity = hours and rate = hourly price so the math stays correct.
- Download or print the PDF and send it. Drafts stay on this device.
Mistakes to avoid
- Putting the hourly rate in quantity and the hours in price
- One line that says “October hours” with no tasks
- Invoicing a month of time in one dump without a period on the page
Payment considerations
Hourly work is often due on receipt or Net 15 because the time is already spent. Write the calendar due date anyway. See when to send an invoice.
FAQ
Does InvoiceBizz import timesheets?
No. Copy hours from your own tracker into line items.
Can I mix hourly lines and a fixed fee on one invoice?
Yes. Use quantity 1 and a package price on one line, and hours × rate on the others.
Is this a timesheet invoice product?
No. It is a standard invoice with hours in the quantity column. The PDF does not become a certified timesheet.
